It started with the crows
One day a crow appeared on my balcony with a pistachio. Rather than scare it off, I sat and watched as it used the slats in our wooden table as a lever for cracking the nut open. I was fascinated by its intelligence and wanted to see more, so occasionally I started putting a few nuts out for the crow.
It completely backfired. It brought all its friends, there were territory battles with relentless squawking. They started burying nuts in our plants, eating our succulents, knocking pots over, and leaving droppings everywhere.
Earlier this year, I came home to the scene above and decided it was time to take back control of the balcony. I ordered the parts for an idea that had been stewing in the back of my mind for years. The first GardenWarden was born.
